This beats any bought version and is not only great with the usual mince pies or Christmas pudding, but it's also delicious spread on crumpets, toasted teacakes and thick-cut toast.
175g unsalted butter at room temperature
175g caster sugar
1tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp grated orange zest
Beat everything together with an electric mixer until smooth and light in texture and colour. The butter can now be spooned into a small jar or container and stored in the fridge. Serve at room temperature.
Tie a label and ribbon around the jar and place in a gift bag.
You don't have to use brandy – rum, whisky, Grand Marnier or other liqueurs all work well.
P.S - this goes especiialy well with the spiced christmas shortbread!
