jam buns


200g Self Raising Flour
100g Margarine
50g Castor Sugar
1 Egg
1 Tablespoon Jam


Sieve, Mixing Bowl, Palette Knife, Small Basin, Fork, Chopping Board, Flour dredger, Wooden Spoon And Baking Tray.


  1. Pre-heat oven 180'c/ Gas 6.
  2. Grease a baking tray.
  3. Sieve the flour into a mixing bowl.
  4. Cut The fat into small pieces.
  5. Place in the mixing bowl with the flour.
  6. Add the sugar.
  7. Rub the ingredients together with the fingertips until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs.
  8. Beat the egg in a small basin with fork.
  9. Add the egg to the breadcrumbs mixture.
  10. Using the palette knife, bind the mixture to a stiff dough.
  11. Knead lightly.
  12. Shape the dough into a round and divide into 8 even sized pieces.
  13. Roll each piece in the palm of the hand  until smooth.
  14. Lightly press each piece onto a baking tray.
  15. Make a hole in the centre of each bun and fill with jam.
  16. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and firm to touch.
  17. Carefully lift the cooked cakes onto a cooling tray.
