and they call this cooking?
rating:spotted on a food blog I read, was this "recipe" for Lemon Pound Cake.
1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
5 tablespoons instant lemon pudding mix
2 eggs
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup water
1/8 cup applesauce
truly, American cooking is a wondrous thing.

I was looking for a nice recipe for tomato-sauce, for pastas et-cetera, and I already had purchased some dozens of beautiful tomatoes. But all recipes started with 'take a tin of quality tomato concentrate'. So I oven-dried them with garlic and spices :/ Lovely, but a bit sad.

I must admit that I instantly lose interest in any recipe which calls for such ready-made ingredients.Â
Mind you, I don't turn my nose up at tomato purée, so perhaps I'm being a bit inconsistent here. Perhaps I just don't like US cuisine.

What? A recipe that calls for real butter, real eggs? No ButterBuds ?
Susan (the wife) loves Cinnabon cinnamon buns so I thought I have a go at making them for her- searching for a recipe online just turned up tons of recipes that started with "take 1 packet of vanilla pudding".
Anyway, finally found an excellent recipe, with notes here...
