moist chocolate cake
rating:Hi, I first found the site when I was looking for a recipe for banana cake, as I was fed up throwing bananas away that had nothing wrong with them other than the skins were a bit mottled, I found a great, easy recipe and made the cake that afternoon, it was delicious and all the family loved it, so I thought I would pass on one of my favourites in return.
This is a delicious cake that I have been using for years as birthday cakes, just changed how I decorated the top.
5oz self-raising flour
6oz caster sugar
3oz drinking chocolate
5oz soft margarine
3 large eggs
3 tablespoons boiling water
Lightly grease an 8 inch deep cake tin, turn oven on to Gas 4 (150)
Put all the ingredients together into one bowl. Mix gently with a fork until all the ingredients are combined then beat for 2 mins.
Transfer the mixture into the prepared cake tin and bake in the centre of the oven for about 1 hour or until well risen and firm to the touch.
Leave the cake in the tin for 5 minutes then turn out to cool.
Slice the cake through the middle when cooled and fill with fresh whipped cream, butter cream or any other filling you fancy.
The top of the cake can be spread with chocolate or dusted with icing sugar.
Made this cake last week, and it was eaten in two days. Tasted absolutely gorgeous, very moist and the next day was even better, almost as if it had chocolate sauce through it!!! Will definately be making it again, even thinking of maiking it for my husband for Valentine's day.
