mincemeat and cream cheese tarts

from shewho - these sound delicious, to me!

orange pastry:
500g plain flour
175g icing or caster sugar
375g butter (cut in small pieces)
finely grated rind and juice of 1 large orange

sift flour and sugar into bowl. Rub in butter with fingertips till like breadcrumbs. Stir in rind. Using knife, stir in juice till dough just begins to stick together. Gather into ball, wrap in cling film and refrigerate for 30 mins or more before using.

250g cream cheese
50g caster sugar
500g orange pastry (as above)
500 - 625g mincemeat

beat cheese and sugar until smooth. Knead pastry lightly and roll out more thickly than usual. Cut out rounds - should do 24 lots of 7.5cm bottoms and 24 5cm tops. Grease tins. Fill bottoms to about half their depth with mincemeat. Teaspoonful of cheese mix on top. Moisten underside of tops, press edges lightly together and make small slit in top. Brush with cold milk.

bake in centre of oven, preheated to Gas 7/220C/425F for 15 - 20 mins until light golden-brown. Best left to cool before removing with a round-bladed knife.
Sprinkle with caster or icing sugar before serving.
