this is meant to sink in the middle and to be gooey and sticky on the top.
4oz fat
1lb flour (with 3 teasp baking powder)
1/2 lb black treacle
2 level teasp ground ginger
2 level teas[ bicarbonate of soda (honestly. The ginger hides the taste - but you could add extra baking powder instead.}
1 level teasp salt
Milk or water to mix.
mix all dry ingredients. Rub in the fat. Stir in the treacle and mix with milk/water till a smooth dough. Bake Gas 4 until done.
